The National Honor Society is an organization that recognizes academic success while encouraging the continued development of character, leadership, and community service. At Alverno, National Honor Society students participate in various service projects including tutoring local middle school and junior high students. Additionally, members of National Honor Society are active members in Alverno student government, campus organizations, athletic teams, and the visual and performing arts while maintaining impressive academic records. Eligible students have the ability to apply to NHS and a committee selects those students whose application strongly reflect the four pillars of the society: scholarship, service, leadership, and character. New members were inducted in a ceremony that included a welcome from current president Nancy Alcala ’20 and current NHS students symbolically passed a candle flame to their newest members.
These new members include Madeleine Petersen, Iris Zhang, Emma Alvarez, Kaitlyn Hammer, Auden Harper, Danielle Campos-Martel, Kaylee Aya-ay, Richelle Studer, Ava Villegas, Rachel Wheeler, and Maille Mansbridge.
