Senior Natalie Scigliano ’18 Receives DAR Citizenship Award
On Saturday, February 3 Alverno Heights Academy senior Natalie Scigliano ’18 received the DAR Good Citizen Award from the Martin Severance Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution during a special brunch on the Fuller Campus.
The DAR Good Citizens Award and Scholarship Contest encourages and rewards the qualities of good citizenship. Students must exhibit the following qualities: Dependability (which includes truthfulness, loyalty, and punctuality), Service (which includes cooperation, courtesy, and consideration of others), Leadership (which includes personality, self-control, and ability to assume responsibility), and Patriotism (which includes unselfish interest in family, school, community, and nation) to an outstanding degree.
Natalie, a graduate from Arcadia Christian School in Arcadia, has been involved in a number of different campus programs and organizations during her time at Alverno. She is a member of the softball and soccer teams where she brings a wonderful attitude and commitment to each of the teams. She recently scored two soccer goals in the Jaguars’ season wrap-up against Holy Family High School. Natalie is a member of Campus Ministry and currently serves as the Secretary of Athletics on ASU.
In May, Natalie was named a Princess for Temple City in the Miss Temple City Pageant. For the pageant, she had to do a character representation of someone she identified with, participate in an interview, and compete in a talent portion. For her talent, Natalie chose to recite the Gettysburg Address on a hoverboard! In the summer of 2016, Natalie participated in the Sister Cities Exchange Program through Temple City that allowed her to visit Australia where she had the opportunity to visit wildlife, ride the world’s steepest railway, swim in the Bondi river, and climb the iconic Sydney Harbor Bridge!
Academically, Natalie has been recognized as a member of the Honor Roll and Head’s Honor Role and is a member of the California Scholarship Federation and National Honor Society. She has already been accepted to several colleges and universities on her list and is excited to make a decision shortly!
“Alverno Heights Academy is incredibly proud of Natalie and all of her wonderful achievements,” said Julia V. Fanara, Head of School. “As a member of so many different campus activities, Natalie exhibits all of the qualities synonymous with this award. Not only is she committed to everything she gets involved with, but she continues to be an exceptionally gifted student who excels in all of her classes. We look forward to seeing where she makes her home after Alverno as she becomes the woman she imagines herself to be. Congratulations Natalie!”
